About Us
Joseph A. Shehadi, MD, FAANS
Dr. Joseph Shehadi grew up in a large family in Buffalo, New York. He became a physician to alleviate suffering, and to challenge himself intellectually, while enjoying a career rich with discovery. Currently, Dr. Shehadi is married and has three children. He is a family man and a pillar in his community of Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Shehadi serves as Vice Chief, Section of Neurosurgery at Grant Medical Center. He is a clinical professor of Neurosurgery at Ohio University, he teaches neurosurgical residents at Grant, and teaches physician assistants at Ohio Dominican University
. He has published several papers, and his most recent publication discusses the availability of products used for spinal fusions. In his leisure time, Dr. Shehadi enjoys spending time with his family and appreciates art, literature, music, and travel.
Dr. Shehadi attended medical school at the University of Rochester, ranked among the top Universities in the country. After graduating, he did training at Washington University in St. Louis and later the world-renowned McGill University-Montreal Neurological Institute for his neurosurgical residency. Dr. Shehadi completed additional fellowship training at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas, one of the nation's top two cancer centers in US News and World Report annual rankings.
Dr. Shehadi founded Neurosurgery Associates in 2006, headquartered at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. For the past ten years, it has maintained an astounding reputation for patient care and compassion. Dr. Shehadi's practice consists of treating patients with intracranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve pathologies. BWC, Cigna, and UHC insurances have selected Neurosurgery Associates as a preferred provider.

In 2020, Dr. Shehadi published a research article titled: "Combined administration of platelet-rich plasma and autologous bone marrow aspirate concentrate for spinal cord injury: a descriptive case series." Recently, Dr. Shehadi has developed interest and expertise on the application of adult natural biologics in the nervous system and has been trained by Regenstem Institute for fat natural biologic harvesting and injections. Dr. Shehadi is the principal investigator on a prospective randomized study on the use of amniotic natural biologics as graft material in the lumbar spine (see www.clinicaltrials.gov). Furthermore, Dr. Shehadi is studying mesenchymal natural biologics from bone marrow aspirates in the study of lumbar spine fusions.
